I could have labelled it “nationalism”, but I chose to describe it as “propaganda” using the original meaning derived from the Latin verb “propagare” – to propagate or spread. I was referring to the dissemination of information, not yet to the deliberate attempt to influence opinions.
It’s interesting how the word “propaganda” has taken on that underhanded connotation now, isn’t it?
As for CNN – you don’t want me to get started on that one!
